Tap into savings

About Tap into savings

Tap into Savings is rolling out across the country during 2010. We’ll be reaching over 10,000 people over the course of the year. We expect a 15 percent reduction in water use as a result of this project!

Free products
Free water saving products are being fitted into people's homes. These products help to save water in toilets, taps and showers, but don't impact on their performance.

EcoTeams
Residents in Tap into Savings areas also have the opportunity to join local EcoTeams, which are groups of about six friends and neighbours working together over three months to save even more water as well as gas and electricity, and to reduce waste. Through the EcoTeams, we also expect significant savings in energy and reductions in waste.

Partners and funding
Waterwise is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organisation that helps people waste less water. In collaboration with Global Action Plan, an environmental charity, and Kathryn Rathouse Social Research, a company that evaluates the effectiveness of projects, we’ve managed to win funds from the Greener Living Fund, which is sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), to support Tap into Savings. In each project area we’re working closely with local partners to deliver Tap into Savings.
