Tap into savings

Over 1000 homes in the Braintree District have booked a free water-saving visit

02 Dec 2010

Over 1000 homes in the Braintree District have booked a free water-saving home visit from Tap into Savings. Each home visit is carried out by an Anglian Water approved plumber who will install up to £30 worth of water-saving products and check for leaks too. Home visits help households save up to 15% of their water use and up to £50 off their utility bills. The project is running until February 2011 and aims to install water-saving products in 5000 homes in total.

Tap into Savings is also encouraging all residents in the Braintree District to join EcoTeams to learn and share water, energy and waste-saving tips. EcoTeams meet for an hour a month and are a great way to meet friends and neighbours. Tap into Savings will provide the venue, refreshments and freebies to take home and try.

Mary Blake, Tap into Savings Project Facilitator in Braintree says ‘we are getting a fantastic response from residents and are helping people not only save water and look after our local water supplies and wildlife, but we are also helping people save money on their household utility bills. The home visits are being offered to Anglian Water customers in the Braintree District for free and we are happy to answer any questions people might have before signing up.’

Tap into Savings is a partnership programme funded in part by Defra’s Greener Living Fund and through local partners including Anglian Water, Greenfields Community Housing, Braintree District Council, Global Action Plan and Waterwise. The project in Braintree is one of three running across England to install water and energy saving products in 7,600 homes in total. The project in Braintree is delivered in partnership with Anglian Water, Braintree District Council, Defra, Global Action Plan, Greenfields Community Housing, and Waterwise.
