Tap into Savings has installed water and energy saving devices in over 400 homes in Tile Hill and Canley to date. Each home visit helps the householder save up to 15 percent of their water use and up to £50 off their utility bills. The project is running until February 2011 and aims to install products in 2000 homes in total.
Kate Hunter, Tap into Savings Project Facilitator says ‘we are getting a fantastic response from residents and are helping people not only save water and look after our local water supplies and wildlife, but we are also helping people save money on utility bills. The project is being offered to residents in Tile Hill and Canley for free and we are happy to answer any questions people might have before signing up.’
Carol from Canley, who had a Tap into Savings home visit in September says ‘if anyone has the opportunity of a home visit, go for it. The Installer was very friendly, I was really pleased with everything, the products are great’
EcoTeams are also taking place around the city, and so far over 90 people are involved. All Coventry residents can join an EcoTeam to see how they can save water, energy and waste. EcoTeams meet for an hour a month and are a great way to meet friends and neighbours and discuss new ways of helping to reduce our water and energy consumption, as well as how to cut down on our waste.
Tap into Savings is a partnership programme funded in part by Defra’s Greener Living Fund and through local partners including Severn Trent Water, Whitefriars Housing Group, Coventry City Council, Environment Agency, Global Action Plan and Waterwise. The project in Coventry is one of three running across England to install water and energy saving products in 7,600 homes in total.
